About
Laura Hayden, EdD Professor Hayden’s research team explores the relationship between physical activity and life skill development among at risk youth, with a focus on understanding how youth develop culturally relevant skills that contribute to their happiness and success within their community. Additionally, Professor Hayden's research team examines how school counselors can incorporate physical activity into their work to best serve youth in accordance with the ASCA National Model, while exploring the strength of the counselor/athletic coach relationship. Most recently, Professor Hayden's research team has considered how physical activity and sport may contribute to states of mindfulness, with the intent of understanding how a mindful approach can be used in socio-emotional development. PhD students interested in sport-based or physical activity-based influences on socio-emotional or academic development, with a national or global perspective, would be welcome to work with Professor Hayden.
