Black feminism: Fourth wave in education

The history of public education in the United States is one of violence, inequity, and deculturalization. What are critical theories such as Black feminism doing in a nice field like education? Attempting to eradicate the atrocities of educational brutality and genocide that have been historically afflicted on Black and Brown students through de facto educational practices. Excavating the collective perspectives of three Black women researchers, this essay offers the TLC (teaching, learning, and curriculum) of Black feminism. To this end, three areas are spotlighted: 1) Black feminist teaching, 2) fugitive learning, and 3) curriculum decolonization. In visioning a humane and equitable education system for the souls of Black and Brown students, this essay concludes with theorizations of fourth wave Black feminism and its utility in education.
