Abstract
Board culture has significant influence on board members’ decisions, effectiveness, and overall organizational performance. Board culture develops from the quality of relationships among board members, as explained within Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations. Nurse leaders who understand and recognize the characteristics of board culture are ideally positioned to leverage interpersonal relationships among board members to influence board deliberations and decisions toward improved health, health care, and health equity for stakeholders.
