Collaborative Justice Research across Difference

How can we write together, response-ably, across difference within the neoliberal university? Drawing on the work of Judith Bulter and others, we share an account of our own experiences of addressing this question in practice. We first outline relevant obstacles raised by the marketization and privatization of the academy and its pernicious notion of so-called accountability. This provides an image against which we next contrast an emancipatory notion of accountability. We then illustrate what we have in mind with a few moments from our own experiences of working together. We close by suggesting that scholars who are interested in collaborative justice research across difference may benefit from accounting for how the neoliberal academy separates them from others in spacetime. Such accounting reveals that meeting each other across these gulfs can be an act of love.
