Abstract
How does capitalism drive the mental health industry? What can be learned by exposing the inner workings of commercialism that shape psychiatric science? Using as their impetus philosopher Ian Hacking's guidance that “lively scholars do not stay still,” Justin Karter, Lisa Cosgrove, and Farahdeba Herrawi argue that we can no longer afford to look the other way in the face of evidence of the profit-driven models that are rampant in the mental health field.
