Abstract

The distinctiveness of adolescence makes it necessary for health care providers to possess specific knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide effective services to adolescents. The recommendations in this position statement provide a framework for advanced practice nursing curricula that prepare nurses to implement developmentally appropriate health assessments, health promotion interventions, and health supervision of adolescents as described in Bright Futures: Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children, and Adolescents.
