Abstract

This entry provides an overview of the history and origins of gender differences/similarities research in psychology and related disciplines, including an overview of key masculinity/femininity scales. It examines the work of significant feminist authors in the field of psychology from the early twentieth century and their views on the purpose of gender difference research, as well as their critiques of initial research on gender differences.
