Abstract
Solid acid catalysis is one of the most important areas of heterogeneous catalysis employed by industries in all sectors of chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is widely acknowledged that there is a growing need for more environmentally acceptable methods for acid catalytic reactions in the chemical industry. Solid acid catalyzed reactions are being intensively studied as green alternatives to traditional acid catalysis for organic reactions. The development of different solid acids and the exploration of their applications in synthetic reactions represent an important area of green synthesis development since such approaches enable eco-friendly and potentially sustainable catalytic processes. This chapter focuses on recent advances in the development and application of different solid acids in the green synthesis of heterocyclic compounds.
